Great post from my perspective, and here is why. I teach a Graduate course in HR Technology, and Halogen has been gracious enough to provide me access to their software for use in my class. Thanks to Halogen, my students will get 'hands-on' experience with a modern, integrated Talent Management solution. Believe me, I talked to reps from every major vendor over the last year, and Halogen was the only one who was willing to step up to the plate and provide support for my HR students. Well done post and keep up the great work.

I don't see anything wrong with sponsored posts as long as both the sponsor and Lance are clear that Lance is being honest in his review.

Put another way, if Lance wants to recommend a product that he likes, why shouldn't he be able to make some money off it and earn a loyal client?

Glad to see YourHRGuy getting love from sponsors. Great content should get rewarded every now and then to cover your hosting expenses and, hopefully, more. I think your loyal readers understand how this deal works and when you offer full disclosure like you do here, that's as fair as it gets. More power to you.

HR Fan, I'm glad you read and enjoy the blog enough to comment.

As for sponsored posts, they are a very small portion of the content here. In fact, out of the 273 posts I have made over 2.5 years, 5 posts total have been sponsored and every single one of them has been clearly labeled as such (a 1.8% clip). I only write about products I like as well.

Let's say you listen to radio, watch TV or read magazines and newspapers. If only 1.8% of the content were advertising, we'd have some very thin shows and papers.

I think the amount of sponsored posts I do is very reasonable for the amount and quality of content you receive. This revenue has also helped fund projects like HRMToday.com. I am not ashamed of it either so I won't hide it under the guise of a non-sponsored review like some bloggers do.

In short, you won't be seeing many of them (and the one's you do see, you can skip over). They will always be clearly marked and be only for quality products that I like. Deal?

C'mon Lance! You're blogs are awesome and I'm always excited when I see an update. You've done some great writing but I'm not sure I'm ready to keep reading your blog if this "salesy" stuff starts showing up. Yes, automated Performance Management is outstanding but if I need a system I'll go do my due diligence. Keep up the good work and I look forward to more creative blogs without the "sales pitch". Happy Wintertime
