I work with companies (performance consultant and speaker) and help them change this chronic problem by recommending that organizations require candidates to complete and send in a talent-based (not skill and experience) resume in a format that they supply from their website. This does two great things:
* It forces the candidate to be sure the talents presented on the resume, match the anticipated talents needed in the role and address the critical information the organization wants and needs from candidates.
* It stops a candidate from using a one-size-fits-all resume (not adequately customized) and not spending enough time reviewing the completed resume for fit, accuracy and professionalism.

Both work to create a more customized, clean, accurate and error-free resume that advances the image of the candidate and clearly presents meaningful performance information. Everyone wins...stronger candidate application, more meaningful information for resume reviewer.

Dude, excellent post, action what matters. There is a phrase in the Army, "spotlight Ranger", they always look strack and say the right things, but put them in the field and they suck and become a liability. It is easy to dress someone up, make them look pretty and let them play at their role, but if the person doing the job successfully ain't to purdy, or is a little rough, I don't care, because they are proven in their ability to get it done.

Also, King James is takin' the Cavs to the promised land this year!

@Laurie - They now have the Bobcats. Keep up will ya?

@KD - Yeah, I am guessing our main guys are going to be fairly motivated to bulk up. They are going to need it.

Lance -

I'd like a picture of you flexing like Artest did after being fouled in Houston. Blazers need to bulk up a bit.

PS - Artest's resumes has TONS of typos.

I don't really care about the typos either, as long as a candidate rocks the housee in a varity of othr wayys.
